Pirate Pot and alarms

It seems no matter where in the world you consider cruising, Pirates are an issue.  Studying the latest material on the matter I'm certain one technique I'll employ is the use of a Pirate Pot.  A cache of bills hidden, but not too hidden.  If we are unfortunate enough to encounter Pirates we will give up the pot in the hope it appeases them.  Of course we will keep some kind of reserve to facilitate repairs and services should they take the nav gear and radios.  Come to think of it, I will keep the ships papers, a spare VHF radio and GPS hidden as well.

Bob Austin advised he used an alarm system on his boats.  I'm wondering what kind of an alarm would be effective on a a boat.  If the goal is to sound an alarm prior to them getting on board, I'm not aware of technology that will acheive this on a boat?  If I alarm the windows and doors, I don't see the value, because at that point they are on board.
