Discussion This Friday:
Intersections of Health, Equity, Active Transportation

Who has access to the transportation system in our community? And how does that affect who has jobs and access to education? And do the transportation options available in your neighborhood affect your health?

Join Liz Kaster, Active Transportation COI Manager, Puyallup Watershed Initiative, and Jacques Colon, Health Equity Coordinator, Tacoma Pierce County Health Department as they walk us through this powerful and important topic. The discussion will be held at University of Washington Tacoma (JOY 117) on Friday, Apr. 17, 2015 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
We all rely on transportation options to get to work, school and play, but many communities face disproportionate challenges when it comes to getting around. This affects people's health, the economy, and how vibrant our community can be as a whole.  Living places where it's possible to walk, bike, and connect to transit can be the key to unlock individual employment opportunities. Creating access to these active transportation options can help solve inequities in our community and increase job opportunities and economic vitality for all.

The event is free and open to the public. The forum at UWT is accessible by Pierce Transithttp://www.piercetransit.org/pierce-transit-routes/ routes 1, 41, 53, 400, 500, and 501 and Tacoma Link. On-street bike parking is available. For details and to RSVP visit the Facebook event.https://www.facebook.com/events/323779791157199/
