On Sunday at Art on the Ave we will be displaying the newspaper boxes freshly painted by local artists but afterwards we would like to display them publicly from July 21 to August 21 somewhere that the public can view them. They need to be safely indoors in a high traffic location. We may also hold an artist reception at this same location. This is a Weekly Volcano fundraising project. We split the net proceeds 50/50 with the artists and our portion of the funds go toward helping to fund the Volcano while we print weekly long enough to apply for newspaper of record status. If we can get this status we can sustain the newspaper regardless of dips in advertising revenue. Weekly Volcano is the only newspaper in Pierce County consistently covering our creative community.
