Good anchorage at Swallow Bluff Island, MM 170. Anchor in 20ft of water,
good holding between the large island and the other shoreline. I found a
spot that is 16ft just to the right of the mark on Active Captain. Dropped
the hook on the 16ft then its 20 ft all around it. Backed down to 12000 RPM
and it held fast.
This 16ft spot is in the middle but not as far up as the tip of Dickey
Towhead. There was a tree stuck in the water just abeam of where we
anchored. The tree was on our starboard side along near to the bank of
Swallow Bluff Island.
Exit back to the channel the SAME WAY YOU CAME IN. Do not try to short cut
it to the channel.
Had cell phone and MiFi coverage there for Verizon.
From this point on the current increases. When you get to Diamond Island (MM
- the current increases more dramatically until you get to Pickwick Lock.
So plan accordingly.
