Across the globe, countries collect funds on behalf of creatives who have copyright. When a copy is made at a library a little of that money gets sent to a fund. The fund is then distributed back to the creatives. Until now that has been down via advocacy groups. But now creatives can sign up to get money back by registering directly with an organization. This isn't a scam. It's recognized by the Graphic Artists Guild and other organizations. So, if you did a drawing, and it was published, you can sign up and get a tiny sliver of those reviews. -Mark Monlux The NEW ASCRL MEMBERSHIP PLATFORM IS NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS! REGISTER FOR 2021 ASCRL PAYMENTS BEFORE TIME RUNS OUT! Dear ASCRL Member, THE NEW ASCRL PORTAL IS NOW LIVE! We are preparing to distribute the backlog 2021 ASCRL funds for illustrators and photographers. This means that if you have not already done so, you must now log in to the portal to update your information at: Membership.Ascrl.Org If the url is not working for you, you may still enter the platform through the member website www.ascrl.org. If you have already updated your information on the new portal, and all of your tabs have a green status, nothing further is required. ASCRL was able to migrate much of our data from the old system to the new platform. However, the new platform requires some additional information. You will also need to upload a new W-9, W-8 for Foreign Nationals, and a copy of your i.d. AVOID COMMON ERRORS (Read This): The new portal is an improved user experience. To avoid common user errors: -1 Your user name is your email. YOU MUST SET UP A NEW PASSWORD. YOUR OLD PASSWORD WILL NOT WORK! -2 In your personal details page, use your individual name. DO NOT ADD A BUSINESS NAME Or a Trade Name, UNLESS YOU HAVE A SEPARATE TAX IDENTIFICATION NUMBER or "EIN" FOR YOUR BUSINESS. If you do enter a business name you are required to provide the business start date, and you will be required to provide the business EIN in the Tax Information Section. -3 Enter a "1" before your cell phone number. If you don't do this, we cannot send you an authentication code to validate your payment information for ACH transfers to your bank. You will receive PayPal payments rather than ACH transfers if you do not authenticate. PayPal will deduct a small fee. Foreign nationals with USA publications PLEASE NOTE. WE HAVE YOU COVERED!. Since you cannot receive ACH transfers to a foreign account you will be paid through PayPal, and you will receive a notification to your email to claim your funds through PayPal. - 4 To accept the terms and conditions, click the "eyeball," and scroll down through all of the terms and conditions in order to activate the submit button. -5 Click the appropriate "EDIT" button if it seems you are unable to change or edit your information. The EDIT buttons are your friends! If you do not see the edit button, try scrolling up or down the page. It is there. Trust Us! -6 You need only list three publications in the publications table on the "Publications Tab." However, you must give your estimated totals for three categories: books, magazines, and urls. On the publications tab, click the appropriate books, magazines or url tabs (left side of page), and give your estimated number of illustrations or photographs in each separate category. Then give the total number of different publications in which the works appear. (The August issue of time magazine is 1 publication, not the circulation of the magazine!). -7 When you upload a tax form or identification, use a file name containing only letters that is ten characters long or shorter.
