We’ve found that the best way to keep them (and m. Cardinals) from displaying this behavior is to use something called Glass Wax. We found it at our local hardware store. It is a thick liquid that wipes on and when it dries it effectively reduces reflections on the outside. This behavior usually only lasts a few weeks.
