In the knowledge sector—whether in libraries, project teams, archives, independent publishers, research networks, museums, or other community-driven organizations—effective collective decision-making is critical to ensuring long-term success, equity, and sustainability. Yet, many organizations struggle with unclear roles, power imbalances, and decision-making processes that don’t reflect the values of their communities.

Drawing on Educopia’s nearly two decades of experience working with diverse knowledge communities, we’re excited to offer a free, online workshop on April 23, from 1pm to 2:30pm ET: The Art of Collective Decision Making!https://www.eventbrite.com/e/free-workshop-the-art-of-collective-decision-making-tickets-1298809487139?aff=oddtdtcreator

We’ve designed this workshop to help you think critically about your current decision-making processes, explore who holds the power in your group, and understand the tools you use to guide decisions. Together, we’ll explore decision-making processes that are not only effective but also more equitable, inclusive, and aligned with your organizational values. We’ll also share tools and strategies that have worked for us here at Educopia—tools that have helped us build stronger, more sustainable, and community-driven decision-making processes.

Whether you're working with a volunteer-driven team or a more formalized group, we hope that the skills and insights you’ll gain will help you build more effective and community-driven governance.

What to Expect:

In this hands-on session, we will cover key areas including:

  • How and when decisions are made in your organization

  • Who holds decision-making power and how it’s distributed

  • Systems and structures that clarify roles, responsibilities, and accountability

  • Tools for improving governance, communication, and organizational transparency

You will leave with concrete strategies and insights to help improve the way your organization makes decisions, ensuring that your practices align with your values and community goals.
