There are dozens of free blog sites. We use wordpress but there's nothing special about them. I would suggest one of the more popular ones as they are less likely to go away and are less likely to tack on offensive adds.  If you are worried about losing your blog, simply save a copy of each page to your hard drive when you post (takes 5 seconds: File/Save As). If they do go under, you can just cut and paste into a new blog site. Good Luck Mike & Tammy Valhalla II
