Puget Sound Books Artists and the Collins Memorial Library are pleased to sponsor this one-day symposium with additional support from the Catherine Gould Chism Fund of the University of Puget Sound.

This one day event will focus on the creative process, collaboration and feature a number of artists represented in the exhibition. Registration fee is $65 and includes continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon break service. Once you have registered parking and additional registration information will be shared.
Schedule:
9:00 – 10:00: View the Exhibition in Collins Library and enjoy a Continental Breakfast. Welcome and remarks by Catherine Alice Michaels at 9:30
10:00– 10:15: Adjourn to the Tahoma Room (Thomas Hall) on the university campus
10:15 – 10:30: Welcome and Introductions
10:30 – 11:30: Keynote Speaker: Dr. Adele Patrick, co-founder and Creative Development Manager, Glasgow Women’s Library: The threads that bound a spine: art, texts and collaboration in the making of a women’s library.
11:30 – 12:30: The Art of Collaboration: a Panel Discussion**.** Collaboration was a key theme in our call for entries. Hear from artists whose books showcase collaboration. This panel, moderated by Lucia Harrison, will focus on the process of collaboration and explore what was it about this particular exhibition and the theme of collaboration and stitching that prompted collaborative work.
12:30 – 1:15: Buffet Lunch (a variety of vegetarian and gluten free options will be available)
1:30 – 2:30: Lucy Childs: Sewn Stories: Using Thread to Build Narratives

2:15 – 3:15: Lightning Round**.** Artists who are attending the Symposium will be invited to provide a short overview of their work. Once we have the full list of registrants, we will be connecting with artists to share their stories.
3:15 – 3:45: Reflections: Adele Patrick, Catherine Alice and Jane Carlin: We will take a moment and reflect on what we have learned about collaboration, creative thinking, stitching and mending and what this show means to us.
