Here's the scoop:

The new Motorcat, which has a moulded LOA of 8.88 metres or 29 feet 1
inch, will be known as the Motorcat 29, or MC29 for short.

The beam is a trailerable 8 feet 6 inches. The remarkable weight with
an inboard engine, half tanks of fuel and water, and two persons
aboard is about 4,400 pounds

The head is enclosed with a door and can have an optional shower.

Jerry Kostanski, the Vancouver-based designer of the Polish-built
cat, tells me the first production boat will arrive in Vancouver by
July. It will be going to Grahame Shannon whose Avia Design Group was
responsible for the naval architecture of the MC29. Grahame will
become a dealer for Motorcat.

Grahame was in Poland for sea trials of the prototype. His report on
performance and other aspects of the MC29 is posted at
http://www.aviadesign.com/transat.htm. A brochure as a downloadable
PDF is available at http://www.aviadesign.com/MC29%20brochure.pdf.

The price of a fully loaded MC29 will be about US$150,000. That will
include an inboard diesel, H&C pressure water, 110V shore power,
heater (from engine), electric toilet, shower in head, fridge,
2-burner propane stove, and cockpit shower.

I think he just built the perfect boat for my wife and I.  Unfortunately, it
will be 5 years before we're ready to get rid of our Maxum 2400 and buy one
of these for the 1st major cruise of our middle aged life.....the Alaska
Inland Passage.  After that, it's the Great Loop during the retired years.
This boat might be perfect for that too......just large enough for two.

Hopefully there will be a used creme puff available by then...

Anyway....the features I really like are...

  1. The enclosed pilothouse yet it features a sun-roof (is it retractable).
  2. Huge double berth
  3. Enclosed head down in the cabin vs. up top like the TomCat.
  4. The looks!  Very stylish!!!
  5. Fuel economy!
  6. Walk around bow
  7. Open cockpit for fishing or sunning
  8. Two transom doors, useful for port or starboard docking.
  9. Upstairs galley.  Chef is not isolated
  10. Double helm seat

Features I would include or enhanced.....

  1. Make the dining table area convertable into a padded U shaped settee.
This allows comfortable flat screen TV viewing, assuming one would put one
    on the galley cabinet.
  2. Feature quality windows....best on the market.
  3. Windshield wiper (didn't notice it).
  4. Galley heat.
  5. Trim tabs
