Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end  time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter:        Chris Burris

Observers:

Visitors:
A big thanks to Chris B. for managing to get down to the hawk watch and do
today's count.

Weather:
Temps ranged from 19C-22C. Winds were steadily SSW around 25 km/h with
occasional gusts. Cloud cover ranged from 0% to 20% throughout the day.

Raptor Observations:
The persistent SSW winds produced two Peregrines (at 950am and 1234pm) and
a grand total of 266 birds, with Sharp-shinned Hawks dominating in the
morning and American Kestrels in the afternoon. There was decent variety,
with 10 species sighted (including the probably local Red-tailed Hawks and
Turkey Vultures).

Non-raptor Observations:
Canada Goose, Ring-billed Gull, Herring Gull, Double-crested Cormorant,
American Crow, Blue Jay (still thousands), American Goldfinch,
Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Northern Flicker,
American Robin, Mourning Dove, Killdeer, European Starling, Song Sparrow,
White-crowned Sparrow, and Chimney Swift.

Predictions:
There's a pretty good chance that tomorrow might bring a few more
Peregrines as the winds are expected to be even stronger and right out of
the SW providing great lift at the cliff. This wind can bring Osprey and
other falcons and even a few Bald Eagles right along the cliff as well.
