Tacoma, Wash. - Join Downtown On the Go and Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy on Walk Tacoma's Museum Walk, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  The 2.5 mile walk, sponsored by TWOKOI Japanese Cuisinehttp://www.twokoi.com/, will start at the Children's Museum of Tacoma at 15th and Pacific Avenue and highlight six downtown museums along the route.  Following the walk, participants are invited to stay for a social at Anthem Coffee & Teahttp://myanthemcoffee.com/ at 6:30 p.m.  There is no need to pre-register for the event, simply join us at the meeting spot.

"After a great Walk Tacoma kick-off event with 250 participants in attendance, DOTG is excited to head to the heart of downtown, to highlight Tacoma's outstanding museums," said Meagan Kula, Downtown On the Go Coordinator.  On the Museum Walk participants will walk along Pacific Avenue, the Bridge of Glass, and Tacoma's Waterfront, and learn about new exhibits and events at the museums, including details on the new expansion of the Tacoma Art Museum.

Walk Tacoma 2014, sponsored by Franciscan Health Systemhttp://www.fhshealth.org/, is an eight-event walking series held on first and third Wednesdays, from April through August. The fun, themed walks, now in their fifth year, encourage downtown employees and residents to exercise and enjoy the outdoors by discovering the different walking routes and parks in downtown Tacoma. The walks are scheduled at the lunch hour and just after work to encourage downtown employees to walk during their workday, whether it is to and from work or at a lunch break.

Walking maps of the routes are available at no cost at Downtown On the Go (950 Pacific Ave, Suite 300), at many downtown businesses, or by contacting Meagan Kula, Downtown On the Go Coordinator, at 253-682-1734 or dotg@tacomachamber.org.
