The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Thursday is proposing a rule that would restrict the ability of states to exempt work-eligible adults from having to obtain steady employment to receive food stamps.
The move comes just weeks after lawmakers passed a $400 billion farm bill that reauthorized agriculture and conservation programs while leaving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which serves roughly 40 million Americans, virtually untouched.

Secretary Perdue said the proposed rule is a tradeoff for Mr. Trump's support of the farm bill. (my emphasis)

Peter, it looks likely that the proposed rule will be posted for comments, so we can all plan to weigh in. Maybe we can match the # of comments on the public charge one (about 175,000, I believe).Deborah---- On Fri, 21 Dec 2018 13:59:43 -0500 Peter Waite<PWaite@proliteracy.org> wrote ---- Sure was Jeff.
