Testing nodupes in MVUS List

I've unchecked the "nodupes" setting for myself in the mailing list
configuration
to see if that will allow me to recieve a copy of my own posting to the
list.  As I
understand the documentation, it should only make a difference if I Cc
myself
when posting, which I don't, or if someone Cc's me when they post to the
list it
should prevent the list from sending me a copy.  But sometimes things don't
work as documented. ;-)

Dave, I think the nodupes setting also works if you send a message to
two lists at febo.com simultaneously, to only deliver a single copy.  So
if you send to lwtg and mvus-list, you get only one copy yourself.  I think.

That's probably correct, John.

Much to my surprise, I did receive the message I posted after I had
unchecked
"nodupes", so Mailman's behaviour doesn't quite sync with its
documentation.
So, if you want to recieve messages from the list that you post, you should
log
in to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mvus-list and change
your
preferences.  You would need to do the same for your LWTG subscription at
https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lwtg.  So, should we make that

the default setting for new users?  Members may change their own preferences

at any time.

I had erroneously reported previously that I did receive my own posts on
LWTG
even though my settings were the same on both lists.

Yes, I think we should change the defaults; the other behaviour is
convenient, but unexpected and doesn't verify that you got the all the
addresses right if you intend to hit multiple lists.
