Tom,

No doubt, the Endeavour 38 is a lot of boat for the money.  But because of
its weight and hull design, it takes a lot of power to  get it going.  We
chartered a Mainship 39' trawler last year with the  same engines (240-HP Yanmars)
and were surprised to find performance  just about the same as advertised for
the Endeavour TrawlerCat  38.  Full tanks will, no doubt, slow it down a bit,
but perhaps  because it's heavier to begin with, it might be less susceptible
to added  load(?). Still, 16 kts with 480 HP (with or without load) is nothing
to write home about -- for a powercat, IMHO.

My take on the Endeavours is that they offer very comfortable  accommodation
(and I've heard the factory is very accommodating  too), but they may not be
best choice for someone concerned with fuel costs  who really wants to put a
lot of miles under the keel(s).
