Navionics charts

I too am interested in Navionics charts and interfacing them with a PC.

In my case my Diesel Duck comes with a Raymarine C-series system and can
handle only Navionics charts. I have been thinking of uprgading this to a
E-series to simplify networking with a PC but am not sold that the C-series
would not suit the bill given that the PC is the primary nav tool. Input on
C VS E would be appreciated.

What I am not sure on is if the C or E seires Raymarine can pass the chart
data on to the PC so that both systems can run together in real time. I am
in Thailand and tech support is zero here so any knowledge would be
appreciated.

The PC is the primary nav tool, witht he Raymarine acting as sounder,
display for a second function like radar, and as backup for the BSOD (Blue
Screen of Death). My concern is the BSOD happenning at an inoppertune time
and having to fumble with swapping the card into the Raymarine, booting it
up, and finding where you are in a timely manner. While I could use the
Raymarine as primary nav and aviod this problem the screen is dinky,
functions are limited, and the upcharge for the biggest, and still dinky,
12" screen is a bit steep for what you get.

Dear Robert:

I upgraded to the E120 for my Pilot House and the E80 for the Flying Bridge
on my Seahorse 52 and have no reasons to regret the move.  We have been
sailing our vessel for the last 8 months from China to Kota Kinabalu and
have had no problems or complaints with our RayMarine equipment.
