Dear Colleagues and Prospective Students,
We are excited to invite you to the first virtual information session for the Lifting As We Climb Fellowship Program. This transformative initiative, funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, is made possible through a partnership between the HBCU Library Alliance and North Carolina Central University’s School of Library and Information Sciences (SLIS).
Date: Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Time: 2:00 PM ET
Register here: https://nccu-edu.zoom.us/meeting/register/8bQfsnpsTRu6HGSwvXlXew
This open session will provide a general overview of the Master of Library Science and Master of Information Science programs at NCCU. We will guide you through the application process and detail the fellowship’s support, which includes tuition assistance, stipends, travel to conferences, and professional mentorship. During the second half of the session, we will have a dedicated breakout room for HBCU library paraprofessionals to discuss how this fellowship specifically supports your educational and career advancement. Additionally, a second session will be held in early June for those who cannot attend this session.
The Lifting As We Climb Fellowship is part of a larger $1 million grant awarded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to the HBCU Library Alliance. This grant aims to advance leadership, expand professional pathways, and preserve the cultural legacy stewarded by HBCU libraries.
