Free workshop series shows how to care for your yard naturally
Learn how to have a beautiful yard with fewer chemicals during a series of free natural yard care workshops at the South End Neighborhood Center, 7802 S. L St., Tacoma.

Natural yard care techniques can be used to create attractive, low-maintenance landscapes as well as manage pests and weeds with limited, if any, need for chemicals. The fewer chemicals used, the fewer chemicals that get washed into storm drains where they flow directly - untreated - into local lakes, streams and the Puget Sound.

This workshop series is offered by City of Tacoma Surface Water Management and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and will feature local experts on a variety of natural yard care techniques and topics.

6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4
"Right plant, right place" garden design
Smart landscape watering

6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11
Building healthy soil
Backyard composting

6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18

Garden pest management

All of the workshops are free, but space is limited. Reserve your space by contacting Geoff Rinehart at (253) 798-4587 or grinehart@tpchd.orgmailto:grinehart@tpchd.org.
