By the way....I forgot to add (to my e-mail of an hour ago about the approximately 41-foot "power sailer" catamaran), that this model is ALSO going to be available as a power-only cruising model. The sailing rig will be deleted, and a flybridge, with helm and ample seating, added.
QUESTION: Is there a market for a 12-knot-max cruising power cat?
The speed is modest for a cat. Offsetting that is that a pair of 75 HP diesels will be exceptionally economical to operate. And thus, with ample tankage, this power cat should offer expansive -- but NOT expensive -- cruising range.
And as to "only" 12 knots? Well, that'd be 30% to 50% faster than most monohull trawlers. Plus this cat has island berths in each hull, eliminating that complaint about many cats' beds. And it offers the same interior cubic footage as the average 50' to 52' monohull trawler. (And yes, LARGE toilets for the "too tucked up" crowd that has registered their complaints here...grin)
Lastly, both the sailing model and the power-only model have the option of another steering/helm station inside, at the forward end of the salon.
As noted previously, these are cat models offering interesting alternatives. But, as always, the marketplace will decide whether this is a GREAT concept....or a solution in search of an ill-perceived problem....
