Online Course Offering

ADTED 457: Adult Literacy

Still time to apply! And there is a tuition discount this summer.

Adult Literacy https://ed.psu.edu/goodling-institute/certificate-programs/adted-457-adult-literacy (ADTED 457), offered through Penn State’s World Campus, provides an overview of adult literacy issues, research, theories, and instructional practices. Additionally, the course ties these components to the field of family literacy and explores how they pertain to adult learners’ roles as parents, workers, and community members.  This course is an excellent fit for those interested in the field of adult education as it relates to the topics of adult learner persistence; health literacy; skills of reading, writing, and numeracy; English as a second language; adult learning theories; economic policy changes; and social and political (in)equities.

This course is part of the 12-credit online Family Literacy Certificatehttp://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/degrees-and-certificates/family-literacy-certificate/overview.  Scholarships available.

For more information about the certificate and scholarship, contact Beth McLean at elg6@psu.edumailto:elg6@psu.edu or 717-432-3498.
