As have many boaters, I used Taylors for several years. They seemed to be the standard. Then I was introduced to the Aere inflatable fenders at the Miami Boat Show. I replaced all the Taylors with them, and never looked back.
By a wide margin and for solid reasons gained over thousands of cruising miles and many tough situations, they were the best attributes I ever added to my boat. To me, they redefine what a fender should and must be. Yes, they are more expensive, but as the sage in Omaha says, price is what you pay, value is what you get.
Also, over time, I've come to suspect any company that makes a point of gladly replacing their product if it proves faulty. That offer appears innocent enough, but look at it in a backhanded way and you can see how it can actually promote the continued and profitable sale of a product.

In 1999, I bought two huge Aere fenders, back when they were Praktek, for
my first boat. Back then, I used them to keep me off the lock's walls.

In 2019-20 winter season, I used them as winter fenders to keep the med
moored boats next to me off of me.

The covers never lasted long when being used when locking thru but cheap
pillow cases kept the fender clean.

The original coverings are still in use today, having had small rips and
tears repaired by local tailors.

I also have Taylor fenders that I have been using since 2011. I BELIEVE the
reason why they have not failed is because I bought two sizes up what was
recommended.

I also own a Polyform 27x36 (A5) fender that is only used at my bow to keep
me off the dock when docking. It is huge and many make fun of its size but
It has saved the paint on the boat and prevented damage to the dock walls
numerous times.

Of course, YMMV.

We have both. My wife loves the Aere because they are so light and easy
to carry. The only issue we have had is that they squeak without the
covers. The Aere covers add a lot of weight. The Aere are a lot larger
than the Taylor so what we use depends on the situation. I may give
making a few thin covers a try.
