Subject: Two simultaneous City-based Aritst-in_residencies with wonderful potential

Hello!
As I broadcast an opportunity, I wanted especially to send you two calls for Artist-in-Residencies in the wonderful community of Tukwila.

I recently finished a public art master plan for Tukwila's new % for Art ordinance.

The City is being very open and forward thinking about how to involve the arts and artists in their hugely diverse community with a widely divergent geography and a wild mix of entities (Southcenter, Museum of Flight, Boeing Field, many interesting small manufacturers, etc. So across the spectrum there is a lot going on.

They agreed to have two artists work half-time for one year in their City developing diverse responsive art activities, learning more deeply how art can intersect with lives and  place.
One AiR will be focused on a natural Tukwila system - the River.
The other AiR will be focused on Tukwila's main road - Tukwila International Boulevard, along which lives the most diverse population.
Both AiRs are framed to have artists interact in a myriad of unfolding ways with place and community.
The two artists will be working "side-by-side" essentially so will have another form of support for research, findings and brainstorming.

I hope you will look at these, but also that you might share these with your network and any specific artists that you know who you think are a good match and would be interested.
As well if you know folks who can send this on to their network, that would be appreciated.
We have posted it at the usual places - 4 Culture, Seattle OAC, Artist Trust, RACC, Tacoma, and a number of other small public art programs in the area.

I appreciate any help you can give Tukwila.
This is a great opportunity for support for the artists with actual pay for time and stability over a year - and in turn, allows a true relationship to be built with the community.

Best,
Carolyn
