Lead artist Patsy Surh O’Connell, with collaborators Sun Watkins and Bella Kim (of the Korean American Artists Association of Washington State) are building an art installation titled “Uprooted – To Nourish Us All”, which includes a 30-foot wide, 8 foot tall, ink-painted scroll backdrop, a tree sculpture, and additional objects. Come see these beautiful artworks, meet the artists, and enjoy a light Korean style dinner.
Guests whom are new to the USA and putting down roots in our community are invited to write their name in their own language onto rice paper and paste it to the tree sculpture.
The completed installation will be on public display from May-August 2022 in a former Woolworth department store window on the corner of 11th & Commerce Street in downtown Tacoma. This project is supported through Spaceworks Tacoma’s Artscapes program, with funding from Tacoma Creates.
