To All -
What started out as a bang tonight, ended at a near whimper. A strong
southerly blew all day, increasing to 20 -25 mph just before the start of
the race. By the end of the first leg the wind had died to a reasonable
level that made the racing fun. One of the things I love about a July
southerly is there aren't too many wind shifts to deal with, no big lifts or
headers, and the air is always warm.
Thanks to the Race Committee Eric Kent and Dan Parietti, and to the Race
Patrol of Julie Feroli and Maria vanZeijl. Incidentally, there were two
Ensigns racing tonight, three Lightnings, four Sonars, four Thistles, and
four Lasers. What a great turn-out.
As usual, let me know of any changes or mistakes in the results. Please note
that Hee Soo accepted a 20% penalty under the Appendix T rule (7 boats *
0.20 = 1.4 places; i.e. one place) moving from 2nd to 3rd in the spinnaker
division.
See you on the water.
