Community Garden Harvest Tour will celebrate growth Sept. 10
Celebrate the harvest and the ever-growing number of community gardens in Tacoma and Pierce County by gathering for the 2011 Community Garden Harvest Tour between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Franklin Garden, South 15th Street & Puget Sound Avenue, Tacoma (the southeast corner for Franklin Park). This event is free.
Self-guided maps will be handed out at Franklin Park starting at 10 a.m. There will be community information booths, a free raffle for all attendees and giveaways.
Rebuilding Together South Sound will also announce the winner of the "Community Garden Design Contest." Gardeners have submitted ideas for permanent infrastructural elements to be built in their garden. The winning entry will be built.
Tour by bike: Take a 10-mile group bicycle tour to four of Tacoma's favorite community gardens. The group tour leaves at 10:30 a.m. from the Franklin Garden and will return around 12:30. Please wear safety gear.
