The Tacoma City Council passed three sustainability resolutions during Earth Week on April 19, 2011. These Council policies renew the City's commitment to sustainability and desire to lead by example.

Sustainable Purchasing Amended Resolution 38248http://cms.cityoftacoma.org/cityclerk/Files/CityCouncil/RecentLegislation/2011/RL20110419.pdf directs development of a sustainable procurement policy that include instructions for consideration of lifecycle impacts of procurement choice

In January 2011, the City Council adopted a Life Cycle City Resolution 38188http://cityweb/Gnet/Departments/CityManager/Sustainability/Documents/Life%20Cycle%20Resolution%2038188.pdf that expresses the City's support of Life Cycle Assessments and life cycle thinking in its relevant legislation and management decisions and encourages the public and private entities in the city to do the same.
The Office of Sustainability and Sustainable Tacoma Commission have published a 2010 Climate Action Plan Progress Report as required in the 2008 Council Resolution on Sustainability. This reporthttp://cms.cityoftacoma.org/sustainability/CAPProgressReport2010.pdf highlights action the city government and community have taken to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and to make our community more sustainable.
