Hi all

We are excited to foray into the world of AI and Art with two brilliant
artists. Come join us for an evening of enthralling art and conversation.

We are hosting Genevieve Gaiser Tremblay and Mare Hirsch on *Thursday March
30, 530-730pm. in the Kittredge Gallery. *Talks begin at 6pm with mingle
time before and after. The art science salons at Puget Sound are part of
the larger LASER series of talks around the world

Genevieve Gaiser Tremblay is a new media artist, creative technologist,
curator, public scholar and cultural entrepreneur pushing the boundaries of
networked technology to move the art experience from formalized spaces into
the public realm in imaginative ways. Her practice integrates digital,
virtual and generative approaches and is best categorized as ‘Post-Net’.
She is a member of SOIL Gallery and Passable Art/Technology Collective, a
Seattle based experimental community of artists/makers.

She co-founded ASKXXI: Arts + Science Knowledge Building and Sharing in
XXI,  a US Embassy (Chile) funded pilot program fostering inquiry and
collaboration in art, emerging technologies, and the ecological sciences.
This work led to her role as Adjunct Researcher at SECOS, Millennium
Institute of Coastal Socio-Ecology in Chile, a new transdisciplinary
initiative of Chile’s Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and
Innovation. Her line of research focuses on the  co-creation of  new public
imaginaries and immersive experiences that integrate scientific and
traditional knowledge and center communities in the process.

Genevieve is a Fulbright Specialist and her published research is aimed at
fostering communities of innovation at the intersection of art and
technology. She recently co-taught a generative art course at Kentucky
College of Art and Design (KYCAD), exploring the ways in which
artists/designers are using rich media, procedural methods and data
ecosystems for visualization that include a range of generative, AI-powered
design tools and node-based visual-programming. Since 2018, she has served
as a GIX mentor at the University of Washington’s Global Innovation
Exchange, providing support to graduate students pursuing their Master of
Science in Technology Innovation (MSTI).

She received her BFA (Intermedia) from Carnegie Mellon University and her
MFA (Studio for Inter-related Media) from the Massachusetts College of Art.

Mare Hirsch’s work investigates the ways technology and art can expand
opportunities for creative expression, connect data to creative practice,
and foster opportunities for inclusive discourse on the social, political,
scientific, and philosophical issues of our time. Hirsch holds a PhD in
Media Arts & Technology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Prior to her doctoral studies, Hirsch completed a bachelor of music at
Lawrence University's Conservatory of Music and a master of music at the
Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. Hirsch is currently an
Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.
