Egg Hunt Thank You
This year’s egg hunt was a great success, bringing neighbors together to
reconnect after a long winter. With the good fortune of clear skies, over
100 Vuecrest residents took part in the event, which featured a profusion
of colorful eggs, thousands of pieces of candy, dozens of donuts, an
espresso cart, and a delighted crowd of children. Those who found the golden
eggs were rewarded with special treats such as a glow in the dark Hula
Hoop! A huge THANK YOU to Roslyn Ellison for organizing the Egg Hunt; to
the Kadavys and Wittmans for once again graciously sharing their yards; and
everyone else who helped make this event a beautiful and memorable success!
Safety Reminder
With the warmer weather approaching (soon!) and longer days, our streets
are alive with walkers, runners, bicyclists, dog-walkers, and all kinds of
people-powered activity, at all hours. Pedestrians, please be aware of
your situation and step clear of danger. Drivers, please be alert and
drive slowly and cautiously. Remember, twenty is plenty!
Assessments Update
A sincere note of appreciation to the 197 property owners who have paid
their 2013 assessment! For those who have not paid, the assessment is now
past due – late fees and interest charges will apply.
Announcing Committee Changes
A heartfelt THANK YOU to outgoing newsletter chair Matt LaPine for his
many years of service with this important community service.
Please welcome the newest volunteer serving our community! Valerie Amburn
has joined the Welcoming Committee, and has also volunteered to take on
responsibility for the monthly Newsletter. We are grateful for her spirit
of volunteerism and support. If you have any newsletter articles or
suggestions, please email them to Valerie at newsletter@vuecrest.net. Thank
you!
Keeping Vuecrest Beautiful and Thanks
Did you know that a single weed flower can produce thousands of seeds? We
would like to express sincere appreciation for neighbors who have been
actively keeping their yards tidy and free of dandelions and other weeds.
It’s good will and support like this that help keep Vuecrest a great place
to live. According to PugetSoundStartsHere.org, the best and least toxic
means to prevent problem weeds is by being a ‘control freak with problem
weeds’! To prevent future infestations, weeds must be removed before they
go to seed. For ideas on pesticide and herbicide alternatives, check out

Carehttp://naturalyardcare.info/pesticide_alternatives.php!
Once yard waste [and garbage/recycling] has been collected, a reminder too
that bins must be retrieved from the curb. Screening with fencing or
plants is a straightforward and attractive way to keep bins discreet and
out of view from the street. Thanks for your diligence in this area!
