Robert,  Once you get a boat, contact us as we are retired and freewheeling.
I have  a 50 ton Maritime Licence but would love to help out in any cruising
as I  have no boat of my own. Am presently in Nicaragua studying Spanish
and
looking for a ride somewhere. Am avialable every year Oct-April.  Summers
are
spent in B.C. where I have a fishing vessel and small condo.  Cheers, Dan

All  hands--

Join me in welcoming Robert Franklin to the  List.

My wife Patty and I live in Lynchburg, Virginia and  are certain to
be the most inexperienced and least knowledgeable  members of the
list. We have never owned a motor boat.

We currently run a childcare business but in a former life I  was a
chemical engineer and still do some consulting from time to  time. We
hope to be able to sell our business in several years  and purchase a
trawler type boat to cruise primarily in the  Caribbean. To that end
we have been attending Trawlerfest for a  few years, subscribe to the
Trawlering and Trawler List ( where I  have gleaned a great deal of
information -when a few of the  members are not arguing about
minutiae) and joined the Power  Squadron and Seven Seas Cruising
Association where we are  currently taking boating courses and online
seminars  respectively.

At the Trawlerfests we have visited  catamarans like the Endeavour 48
Trawlercat and more recently the  Mainecat 47 which have impressed us
very much.

Recently on the Trawler list someone made reference to the  catamaran
list and I thought that joining would allow me to learn  from those
who have experience with this type of boat.

Since we are both in our 50's and are coming to boating late  in life
we will probably only buy one boat so we want to make the  most
informed decision possible.

I am  afraid that for the time being I will be more of a user of
information than a provider but hope that will change after we buy a
boat and gain experience to share with other members of the list.

Again thank you for letting me join the list and for the  warm welcome.

Robert Franklin

Robert, don't be afraid to post questions to the group. One question
at a time with a descriptive subject line will net the best  results.
