He is a principal at Seattle jazz record label Origin Records, co-founded the Ballard Jazz Festival and frequently performs at jazz venues throughout the Northwest and beyond. He has appeared on stage with artists such as Eric Alexander, Thomas Marriott, Gary Bartz, Peter Bernstein, Jacqui Naylor and Mike Stern, among others. As a composer, Matt has written music for Cascade Public Media’s Crosscut Festival, created the sonic identity for Seattle’s PBS station KCTS9, composed the theme for KUOW’s Seattle Now podcast as well as working on numerous short films.
