Dear NCL Colleagues, The spring members’ meeting of the National Coalition for Literacy will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2017, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the American Library Association’s Washington Office, 1615 New Hampshire Ave NW. We will have call-in conferencing capability for those who can’t attend in person. The preliminary agenda for the meeting includes the following, in no particular order: - Update on interactions with the House Literacy Caucus and our Senate literacy champions - Policy (and budget) update from CEF and others - Discussion of ways to collaborate on developing policy recommendations - Discussion of ways to work effectively within the WIOA focus on CTE and IET, without losing essential services to ABE/ESL learners (with possible presentations by related organizations) - Update on overall NCL status This agenda is intentionally vague at this point because the environment changes daily, as I’m sure you have noticed.
