Dear NCL Colleagues,

The spring members’ meeting of the National Coalition for Literacy will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2017, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the American Library Association’s Washington Office, 1615 New Hampshire Ave NW. We will have call-in conferencing capability for those who can’t attend in person.

The preliminary agenda for the meeting includes the following, in no particular order:

  • Update on interactions with the House Literacy Caucus and our Senate literacy champions
  • Policy (and budget) update from CEF and others
  • Discussion of ways to collaborate on developing policy recommendations
  • Discussion of ways to work effectively within the WIOA focus on CTE and IET, without losing essential services to ABE/ESL learners (with possible presentations by related organizations)
  • Update on overall NCL status

This agenda is intentionally vague at this point because the environment changes daily, as I’m sure you have noticed. Feel free to contact me with any topic suggestions or questions you may have. I hope to see many of you in May.

Cordially,

Deborah
