Yachts are rarely the subject of attack in the Straits of Malacca. Definately, you would be best served to have a group of boats together--also have very bright lights. I think that my thoughts about arming are well know--but the pirates in this area are well armed, and professional. You will have no problem finding other boats transiting the area at the same time you are and it will not be a problem. Bob Austin
