THIS WEEK IN TRI CLUB (August 31-September 6)!
This past weekend we completed the first of two training workouts at Blue
Marsh for our upcoming "Gators DIY Tri" on Sunday, September 13 and this
coming Saturday there is another opportunity. If you are planning to
participate in the event and have not already done so, commit today on the
survey that you can find under "Announcements". So far we have 18 planning
to complete one of the events plus several that have volunteered; our
current start list includes...
• Sprint Tri: 4
• Olympic Tri: 5
• Half IRONMAN Tri: 3
• Other combinations: 6
We also have an event on Sunday... The Donut(less) Derby! Led by Gina and
Jeffrey Stango, this is an opportunity to ride the 36 mile course and...
okay, we fibbed, there WILL BE DONUTS... then regain some of your lost
calories! There are also some fabulous prizes for anyone that officially
registers (for $10 through TODAY, August 31!)!
Take advantage of some of the many opportunities available to you this week
from both the club and our awesome sponsors, French Creek Racing and
Mid-Atlantic Multisport, to get ready for the DIY Tri or any of the other
virtual and real events on the calendar!
Also, please note that this week's evening club rides (Tuesday and
Thursday) will again start at 6pm (we previously announced that they would
start at 5:45pm, but decided to stick with 6pm and shorten each ride to
finish before sunset).
Just a reminder to please observe social distancing before, during, and
after our workouts and always have a mask with you as those are the best
way to ensure that we can continue to offer club cycling, running, and swim
workouts.

• Wednesday, September 2, 6:45pm-7:45pm, Spring Valley YMCA Indoor Lap
Pool: Swim Workout led by Don Mack. There is a limit of 12 swimmers so get
your "Going" response in by Noon tomorrow/Tuesday if you are interested in
attending! Note that as of the time of this posting, we are at 11 "Going"
(I do not count). If there are any new additions that put us over 12 by
Noon, Tuesday, we'll first check to see if anyone is interested in a "split
shift" (i.e. 30 minutes/swimmer) and if we are still over capacity we'll do
a drawing for the 12 spots and announce the outcome on Tuesday evening or

• Thursday, September 3, 6:00pm-7:20pm, Reynolds Dog Park: SRT Out and Back
Ride... We'll start by going 40 minutes that way and then we'll turn around

• Saturday, September 5, 8:00am-Noon, Blue Marsh: "Gators DIY Tri Training
Opportunity #2"... This course preview-type workout is open to DIY Tri
participants and non-participants... Heck, we'll take anyone, so feel free
to bring a friend... or even someone that you don't get along with... it
could be a great opportunity to combine strength/endurance building with
relationship building! We'll start with an OWS followed by a Cujo Loop
(17.5 mile) bike ride, and end with a leisurely paced 2-3 mile run. See

• Sunday, September 6, 9am-Noon, Trexlertown Velodrome: "Donut(less) Derby
with the Stangos"... We started a new Gator tradition in 2018 by making
this an annual club event! Despite the outlandish 2020 so far, we will not
