Today's strong NNW winds produced 773 raptors, including 114 Turkey
Vultures deemed passage migrants, 16 Northern Harriers, 214 Sharp-shinned
Hawks, 291 Cooper's Hawks, 6 Broad-winged Hawks, 58 American Kestrels and
42 Merlin. Highlights included "flocks" of 3 Bald Eagles flapping low
through the Park, another "flock" of 3 Cooper's Hawks in one tree,
seemingly enjoying one another's company, and a traditional late afternoon
feisty Merlin show. The morning flight was similar to that of yesterday.
There were at least 710 House Finch and 110 Purple Finch moving through.
Moderate NNW winds continue tomorrow, and who knows, there may still be
hawks in the pipeline.
