Hello Gators,
FYI regarding an outstanding accomplishment by our Spring Valley YMCA Masters Swim Team at their Zone Championships, which is their end of year championship meet, this past weekend. Lots of great results under the leadership of Gary Sangmeister. And you will see below that there were a number of record setting performances including one with two of our club members, Maribeth Baker and Steph Boris! Joe Boris also was a significant contributor to their performance.
There are also other tri club members that occasionally swim with the Masters team including Nabil Radouane, Chris Reiter, Brian Kozera, and Keith Ho... They are always open to any of our members joining in with them for their workouts (and at their meets).
Great job, Gary, and congrats to the team!
Don

Hi all,
Wanted to share another picture with everyone, make the corrections on the relay records below (sorry for the initial oversight!), and also include our YMCA Directors on the news. As I was saying yesterday this was the closest masters meet I can recall. I went back and pulled the scores now available and checked just how close this was down the stretch. Following the end of the 100 Fly on Sunday, we were up by 36 points combined men and women. With 1776 swimming more women's relays, they closed the gap to 14 points after the 400 Free Relay and then only 2 pts after the 200 Medley relay. With only the guys relays to go, the lead grew to 4 pts after the Brad, Joe, Drew and Jeremy's 400 free relay and we closed with an 8 pt margin after picking up a few more in the final medley relay. Wow. Imagine the pressure if you knew it was really that close then!
Thank you ladies for picking up the extra final 400 relay and guys for jumping in on the 400 beating 1776 head to head in the 35+ age group (that alone was the 2 pts). And to the extra mixed 800 free relay that will forever live on in our Zone story book, thank you for the great effort....the positive is we have a great story now!
Incredible job....trophy pic down below.

Hi all,
Congrats to all of you as we have reclaimed the Colonies Zone Medium Team Title for 2017! I know most know already from Facebook and such but wanted to share some details. It was a really exciting meet with the winner being decided in the final men's relays holding off our fellow DVLMSC swimmers at 1776 who fought really hard. The final point gap was only 8pts.....which is only one individual swim or half a relay win difference. It was that close and we all knew it could have gone either way after the relay heat sheets were posted.
We won this in the pool racing as a team. There was no advantage or disadvantage and that's what makes it so impressive. Everyone stepped up with amazing swims posting some incredible personal bests to gain every point we could. Final results are finally all posted at patriotmasters.orghttp://patriotmasters.org/. Not sure why the long delay in "real time" result posting but they are all there now.
If I got this right, Jeremy Gross set 2 Zone meet records and DV records in 50 Fly and 50 Free. He also set DV records for the 100 and 200 Free! Jeff Evans set a Zone meet record and new DV record in the 200IM! Jeff also set a new DV 50 FLY record.
SVY also set DV and Zone records in 5 relays:
Women's 35+ 800 Free Relay (Henion, Baker, DellaGuardia, S. Boris) DV Record
Mixed 45+ 200 Free (DellaGuardia, Sangmeister, Henion, Gross) Zone and DV Record
Mixed 45+ 200 Medley (DellaGuardia, Sangmeister, Gross, Henion) Zone and DV Record
Men's 45+ 200 Free (Gross, Sangmeister, Evans, McGuire) Zone and tied DV Record
Men's 45+ 200 Medley (Evans, Sangmeister, Gross, McGuire) Zone Record
Pretty amazing stuff. Thanks you everyone for rolling with the late relay additions Sunday morning as it made the difference! For those that have not seen yet, here is our team picture....funny how that ray of light is shining on the team banner!
