Having cruised the Trent Severn four  times I can make a general statement
that the Canadian portion of the Great Loop  including Trent- Severn just
gets better and better as you cruise north.  For a couple of weeks in a
houseboat on the Trent Severn I would recommend the  fifty miles from Youngs
Point to Fenelon Falls.
A looper doing the Trent Severn will  have completed 26 of the 42 locks
to get to Youngs Point and the start of the  more interesting segment.  A
narrow, rocky channel known has Hell's Gate  leads to Lovesick Lake where you
can tie-up overnight at remote Lovesick  Lock.  There are no roads here -
the lockmaster arrives by boat.  You  can also tie-up at Buckhorn Lock, one
of our favorites adjacent to a little  village with bars and restaurants on a
very busy road.  Bobcageon is  everybody's favorite and is usually crowded.
More docks have been added  this year.  Finally arrive at Fenelon Falls,
'the Jewel of the  Kawarthas'.
This will be a fun two week vacation  in the company of many other
houseboaters and should you need service mechanics  are very close by land.  I
saw a mechanic swap out an engine one evening  while the renter was tied up
at Bobcageon with no delay to his vacation  schedule.

We are  Joan and Larry Ropka and have in the recent past cruised the US
east coast  and Canadian triangle. We have relapsed into RV dirt cruising
and plan to  be in the  north central region in early summer. Question: if
you were  going to spend a week or two on a rental house boat on the Trent
Severn,  what segment(s) would you recomend. Also any must see/ do's
therein.

Any/all suggestions welcomed and appreciated.
