SAFE SWIMMING!... WHO WANTS A SWIM BUOY?

We're taking a leap of faith that we will be doing OWS sometime this
summer.  Under that premise, we are strongly encouraging all of our
members, regardless of swimming ability, to consider purchasing a swim buoy.

So, if you do not already have one, we'd like to know if you would like to
be part of a bulk order for one.  The pricing drops from about $30-$35 when
purchasing one to about $20-$25 if we purchase 10 or more.  They come in
multiple colors and sizes and there is an option for a version with a
pocket (larger sizes and pocket versions are about $5 extra).  If you are
interested in buying one, please post a comment by Sunday, May 10... If
there are 10 or more and you can provide me with an electronic payment
(e.g. PayPal, Venmo, etc) in advance, I'll do the legwork of placing the
order and eventually delivering it to you.

They are functional for both safety and security reasons...

  1. Safety - Visibility: This is really the primary reason that we think the
swim buoy is great for swimmers of all levels... No matter how fast you can
swim, jet skis and boats are faster... And a swim buoy doesn't impact your
stroke... I was originally not in favor of having one for this reason, but
after trying it out a few times, I now use one for all non-racing open
    water swims.

  2. Safety - Flotation: If you have any concerns about fatigue, the swim
buoy can be used for flotation.  It provides that extra level of assurance
that you may need if you have any concerns about OWS.

  3. Security - Take your valuables with you!  No longer do you have to leave
your keys, phone, wallet, etc alone on the beach while you swim and then
hope they are still there when you return.  You can take them with you in
the sort of dry pocket that is part of the swim buoy.
