Good morning all,
I represent a municipality that desires to declare approximately $300.00 in
ammunition it is no longer using in its police department as surplus
property. One of its police officers, a municipal employee, wants to
purchase the ammunition. I have reviewed state law which requires the
offering of municipal surplus property at a public sale prior to selling it
to an employee; however, I am trying to find out if there are any legal
restrictions on offering surplus ammunition for sale to the public prior
to selling it to the employee/police officer. I sincerely appreciate any
insight you all may have in this regard. Thank you.
