Tacoma Justice Cafés- Building Local Community: The Foundation for Social
Justice

*August 20, 7:00 p.m., *

*Jean's House of Prayer, 1414 Tacoma Ave South, Tacoma, WA *

In a highly mobile, quickly globalizing world, we are witnessing the
breakdown of sustainable food systems, collapse of local economies, and
losing the sense of place in our own ecosystems. Come join Mark Votava,
author of The Communal Imagination http://markvotava.com/ , in exploring
how investing in local communities and building relationships are acts of
expression of justice in themselves.

Justice Cafes are a growing international movement of young adults acting
together for justice! Every month we come together to discuss a social
issue that affects our lives today. The discussion doesn't stop at the end
of the night, though. When the evening is over, global solidarity and
dialogue builds as the conversation continues on the Justice Cafe Facebook
page https://www.facebook.com/groups/justicecafe/. Participants can hear
how local context affects the topic for people in New York City, Kenya, and
other places around the country and world.
