Hello fellow birders.
Today October 24, after unsuccessfully searching for Franklin’s Gull( seen and photographed yesterday at The Hagersville Quarry ponds, west on Concession 12 Walpole west of Hagersville) we did some extensive birding at the Townsend’s Sewage Lagoons( west of Jarvis and SW of Townsend’s on 14 concession Townsend, Haldimand County off hiway 6, south of Caledonia).
We managed to see
A) 4 Cattle Egrets,
B) 1 White-rumped Sandpiper,  plus 3 Dunlins, 3  Pectoral, 2 Lesser and 3 Greater Yellowlegs,
C) BW teal and 15 species of ducks
D] Peregrine Falcon attacking Cattle Egret, trying to kill it.
Best of luck

Hello everyone:

Dave Moffatt and I revisited the townsend lagoons yesterday. The cattle
egrets were not present. However, we got spectacular views of an American
avocet in flight as it was being hunted by a northern harrier.

We also saw the white rumpled  sandpiper, about six Dunlin, greater and
lesser yellow legs, A short billed dowitcher, and  a single semi palmated
Sandpiper
11 duck species.

Along The hedge row leading into the lagoons, there was a fine selection of
first fall white crowned sparrow’s, a few song sparrows and a vesper
sparrow.

I should point out that there is a new elaborate gate that is likely very
effective for keeping vehicles out. However, there is a gap that makes it
very easy for a pedestrian to get through.

Spelling and grammar errors are due to Siri.
