Bucks made, bargains found at 2good2toss.com

Nowadays, who isn't looking to make a buck or find a bargain? Both are inevitable at 2good2toss.com, City of Tacoma and Pierce County's joint endeavor to keep reusable items out of the landfill.

Featuring a new look and higher price limit, 2good2toss.com offers residents a way to post their reusable household items and building materials on the Web site priced from free up to $199 (limit increase from $99 as of April 1). Bargains can be found in more than 40 categories including listings for garage sales, another outlet to give reusable items a second life.

"We consistently receive positive feedback from residents about how 2good2toss.com is a great resource," said Tom Voigt, Tacoma/Pierce County site administrator. "I even heard from one couple who found a free antique dining room table that was reluctantly listed on the site, and after hearing why the table was being given away and making a repair, they graciously returned it in working condition to the owner who was incredibly grateful and surprised to get the family heirloom back."

Diverting reusable items from the landfill since 2003, 2good2toss.com is a statewide partnership comprising 14 city/county sites, which are sponsored by Washington State Department of Ecology.

Since the program's inception, the Tacoma/Pierce County site has been the largest and most successful of all the partner sites, boasting 6,800 members, 7,500 exchanges and diverting 420 tons of material from the landfill.
