It's been a long time since I access AC, but I seem to remember before it
got into the hands of Garmin that there was a method whereby people could
share routes. Am I mistaken and this utility is someplace else?

The AC app has the ability to export or import *.gpx route files. I plan in AquaMaps and important *gpx files into AC and vis-versa. I don’t find the AC route planning intuitive or friendly. I also do not know how AC runs if you are not running Garmin OneChart.
You may want to check-out AquaMaps if not done so already, it includes AC content as well as Waterway Guide and also with the “Master” version you can have the USACE overlays. It allows send/receive of both *.gpx and *.kmz route files. It also works well with transfers to/from Garmin OneChart and Active Captain. Cost for AquaMaps with
“master” upgrade is all-in less than $50 depending on which charts you select.
