MVUS Meeting this Friday

DL
Dave Lundy
Fri, Nov 27, 2009 3:20 AM

There will be an MVUS meeting this Friday night at the usual place and
time.
I sent the newsletter in a message about an hour ago but it appears to have
vanished into the ether.  The Nov./Dec. 2009 "Anomalous Propagation" is
now available at mvus.org http://mvus.org/apnews/ for your reading
enjoyment.

I forgot that for some reason I have yet to determine, this list apparently
does
not send a copy of the message to the author.  The LWTG list, and all others

I use, do.  So you send something and expect to see a copy arrive in your
inbox
and it never does.  Assuming it vanished into thin air, you send it again.
Argh!

Got to get this figured out before I forget and do this again. ;-)

Hi Dave

There is a configuration setting that will let you get the messages you
post.  Now If I just remembered where it was....

In the general settings for the list, "Do not send a copy of a member's own
post
" is NOT checked.  It's the same in the Membership page, except there
it's called "not metoo".  The "Filter out duplicate messages to list
members (if possible)"
IS checked*.*  Those are some of the new member
default settings, which are described as follows.

This variable presents a set of checkboxes which control the defaults for
some of the member options. Conceal the member's address specifies whether
or not the address is displayed in the list roster. Acknowledge the
member's posting
controls whether or not Mailman sends an acknowledgement
to a member when they post a message to the list. Do not send a copy of a
member's own post
specifies whether a member posting to the list will get a
copy of their own posting. Filter out duplicate messages to list members
(if possible)
specifies whether members who are explicitly listed as a
recipient of a message (e.g. via the Cc: header) will also get a copy from
Mailman.

So apparently there's a not me-too setting somewhere else that I haven't
found?  John is using Mailman 2.1.11.  I compared my settings in
https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/options/mvus-list to
https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/options/lwtg and they're the same, but
they don't behave the same. What am I missing?
