As a friend and supporter of the Community Foundation, I am excited to share with you the launch of our new grants program: Spark Grantshttp://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001LnFOltpLJqqg40z296cg0O42U8PVFYtGQs7qLHKIoi_g1Sc-m60otJKCWNRu769qrtdPWXqOm2EVWodQ7bTS0i44yQwl3fQNH8Zl4DC_8NdqAl3_4oa14eJSksXTAjVi.
Spark Grants is not your typical grants program-it's designed to support everyday people who want to create positive change in their community.
Unlike our other grants, which support nonprofits, Spark Grants are $1,500 "micro-grants" to individuals and small groups who have great ideas on how to make their neighborhood a better place.
A wide range of projects are eligible, but priority will be towards those that bring diverse groups together, build on community strengths or offer exciting ideas to address community challenges.
(Check out some project ideas in today's Tacoma Weekly article on Spark Grantshttp://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001LnFOltpLJqr8ZycVBUq9RHmqJNWVlqBmuJ3An8vPoYievNb5LTaFNQTmK-K1JWrORTLtfUTn2wDpJA_gsj3DzhHUt6vBUinMMoeAzDYiXcdIpTPIrsOvgS2ib9zL5fJxO9Rf2jDPzMb9IbYFfCBjQJvowe1_aYj3iuujikM-jDjiI5K95yRlqo6NdzUfQwA-iLfp6hJ0q_xQHZoJTnKXFj_CHleVwswK)!
Why are we launching Spark Grants?
At the Community Foundation, we believe that we can accomplish more, together. At our core, our work is about building connections. Connecting passion to action. Connecting resources to needs. Connecting people to community.
We work to foster philanthropy and encourage generosity in order to strengthen our community. As a partner in philanthropy, we are here to help others spark change.
While our strong emphasis remains on supporting nonprofit organizations, Spark Grants allow us to encourage greater community participation at the individual level. And help keep new ideas flowing into our community.
We each have the power to make a difference-we can each be the spark that ignites change. That's what Spark Grants are all about.
