Overseas Medical Assistance from IAMAT

There is an interesting not-for-profit international organization called
"IAMAT".  (I believe this stands for International Association for Medical
Assistance to Travelers.  I think their website is www.iamat.org.)

In return for your (truly) voluntary annual donation, you'll receive a
booklet of English-speaking doctors and clinics around the world who have
agreed to treat travelers for a nominal fee.

I have (fortunately) never had to use their services yet, but whenever I do
travel overseas I copy the pages covering the countries I'm going to visit,
and leave the whole booklet at home.

Again, this is NOT insurance, but it's a comforting thought to know that
there's someone in town with medical training who speaks English...

BTW, there is a pre-paid repatriation transportation outfit called MedJet
Assistance.  Again, this isn't insurance, but they will come and get you
most anywhere in the world and -- as long as you've been admitted to the
local hospital -- they'll take you home in a private plane with medical
assistance on board, to any hospital of your choice.  No connection to
either group, other than as a user.  MLP
