Fellow Attorneys: One of my Towns has had a paving project, and there is some controversy over the amount of final payment owed to contractor. This week I received documents where the contractor had apparently assigned the balance (claimed to be owed) to a company that filed UCC papers with the Secretary of State. The cover letter asked us to freeze our funds and acknowledge their filing. Have any of you encountered this circumstance? Thoughts?  Thank you,  Kay Wall
