I have been loosely following this thread. I chose not to install a
electrically driven oil drain pump because it Is just one more thing to
break, fix, replace.
There is enough of that already on board LeeZe.
What I did do was took the really cheap option of getting the engine
builder to have a hand pump installed at the point where the drain plug
would be.
In the 10 years, I have used it once to drain all of the oil out.
That took three days, but I was not in a rush. I had planned for it.
The first day some 26 of 28 liters of oil was out.
When I went by the engine over the next two days, I would the hand pump a
few pumps and more would come out.
By day three, I had over 27.5 liters of oil out. Declared victory and
changed the oil and filter.
Since then, I have been having the oil analyzed.
I change the filter every year and top off. When it is time to ship off a
sample, I get a clean bottle, pump out 5 liters, fill the sample, and
return the oil. Then I wait for the results.
So far, have not needed a complete oil change.
I am saving a bunch of money as good oil is not cheap on this side of the
pound, and neither are good quality electrical oil pumps.
Rudy, care to comment?

Lee, 27+ litres, I can't count that high; Jill gets tired of pumping out
the 4+ quarts from our engine.
