Enviro-Challenger Educator (Program Development Specialist)
Position Description
The City of Tacoma is recruiting for an Enviro-Challenger Educator in the classification of Program Development Specialist. We are searching for an outgoing, energetic person with a proven background in creating engaging and innovative environmental lessons through artistic expressions.
Primary responsibilities for this position include creating art environmental lessons which foster student's desire to make changes in daily life to promote environmental health and sustainability, teaching and maintain current teaching in K-8th grade classrooms during the school year, staffing the will be teaching and creating environmental lessons to K-8 students in a classroom setting during the school year, staffing the City's Environmental Services community events outreach booth, teaching summer camps, and creating art environmental lessons. We hope to foster students' desire to make changes in daily life to promote environmental lessons, build relationships with schools and environmental communities partners to promote environmental sustainability.
Our Ideal Candidate will enjoy working with students, will enjoy working in a team environment, will possess excellent communication skills, flexibility, planning, project management and evaluation skills, along with a professional and courteous attitude.

Is highly engaged in their work, a self-starter whose enthusiasm for environmental sustainability encourages and motivates others to participate.
Loves to connect with people during community outreach events in providing program information to the public.
A lifelong learner who seeks out knowledge about current trends in environmental issues and topics to support lessons and discussions.
