There is a report of an American Flamingo on eBird from Norwalk at 5:30 AM
today.
The observer has been contacted for details. Unfortunately we don’t have
anything to work with.
Just an fyi.
This will not show up on eBird alerts as the species defaults to escapee
status in the US, and escapees do not show on alerts.

There have also been flamingo sightings on Long Island and Cape Cod over the past few days.

There is a good photo posted to the Queens and LI bird alert Twitter
feed with suggestions that this bird is now in Cape Cod.

The history of this bird so far goes:
5/30: Supposedly seen by a yacht captain in Shinnecock Inlet, Long Island
5/31: Found by a birder in the evening at Georgica Pond, Long Island
6/1: Spent all day at Georgica Pond, seen by MOB
6/2: Wasn’t seen in LI all day, then a report came in in the evening from Dennis, MA, with photos
6/3: Suspicious eBird report from Norwalk, CT of bird flying west at 5:30am even though checklist was 5:30pm
6/4: No updates as of now. In my opinion, if it’s anywhere, it’s back on Long Island somewhere
