John is very correct.  I hate initials too.  Where I'm at they talk about
NYC and we all assume it's obvious it refers to New York City.  But some
folks may not know that.

I remember looking pretty stoooopid when I asked someone on this list what
kind of trawler his "PNW" was ... and he replied it meant Pacific North
West.  It was a location, not the kind of boat he had.  I'd never heard of
that expression before, I'm on the other coast.

Then there are folks that refer to names like "Smith's Inlet" and I wonder
if they mean the one in New York or the one in Florida.  Then half way thru
writing him a reply, I see the answer is in the email Topic line.

Sometimes I'll get an email saying "can you help with this?" and it's not
til later that I see the topic line which explains it.  My mail program
puts up the topic in small print, mixed in with a bunch of other stuff.

Don't put your question in the topic, some folks don't see it.

And John .. what you said about forgetting ... wait til your Alzheimer's
has progressed to the point mine has ... you'll enjoy meeting so many new
folks every day, and a lot of them seem to act they've known you forever!
It's rather nice!

And now, it's a beautiful day up on the New York Canals, only 82 degrees,
sunny and lovely, it's time to go out and meet some more "new" people!

Bob, Greg and List:

I stand corrected.  Thank You!!!  I always get confused by the MTOA
initials, because I remember when it stood for Marine Trader Owners
Association, but was then changed to Marine Trawlers when membership
declined -- or was it because Marine Trader owners objected to paying dues
to the boat manufacturer's association.  Same reason we dropped our
membership in the Carver Owners Association.

I have been told that there are two things men my age have forgotten, but I
can't remember what the first is.

John; The MTOA was changed to Marine Trawler Owners Assoc because we had
grown to such a big diverse group. We had Albins, Grandbanks, Marine Traders,
and so many trawler types it was more fitting to drop trader and use Trawler.
We are still growing....   Hey Why dont you join back up? it is $95. the first year
and after that it is $65....We have alot of rendezvous and regional groups like
the CBC Chesapeake Bay Cruisers. Visit www.mtoa.net and click on
regional groups and see what is going on. We have a port Captain on
the Sasafras River and a host of them all over the U.S.

I think you can bring a lot to the MTOA Party and we would certainly
like to have your presentations at one of rendezvous, Like Baltimore
is coming up. You do not have to be a Published Author to present stuff
to MTOA members, Like you told me about AGLCA. Think about it John. Use my Member # 2631 for reference Gets me an "atta boy" for recruiting (smile)
